Greetings

Welcome to the October newsletter from Physical & Sports Rehab.

"So that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;" - Colossians 1:10

October is National Physical Therapy Month (NPTM)

We want to recognize our team members and their work to improve our patient's lives by optimizing movement. We love what we do!

  "WE'RE WARRIORS"

October is also Breast Cancer awareness month and we were able to speak with a breast cancer warrior, Madeline Long, who founded Supporting Our Sisters International. This five year old “survivorship organization” is a safe place for women to talk about their journey and receive education about health. The organization is expanding their support group to include women with all forms of cancer. Long encourages women to take care of their entire bodies inside and out.

Here are some questions to ask yourself about your overall health:

  • What changes do you need to make in your diet?

  • How often do you need to work out?

  • How can you reduce your stress level?

  • What motivates and inspires you?

The women who are battling cancer call themselves warriors as opposed to survivors. “We know that we are not just on the battlefield for ourselves, but we are on the battlefield for those who are not able to fight for themselves,” said Long.

Early detection is very important. As Long stated, “I don't want any woman to hear the words, I’m sorry to tell you, you have breast cancer.” Long is on the executive team at SureTouch, which is the only digital breast exam company in the country. SureTouch is a screening option for younger women, since most women cannot get mammograms until they reach around 40.
